Reality, Not Dystopia: The Russian Bombardment in Kharkiv and Odessa Reflected in Photos

Russia targeted the cities of Kharkiv and Odessa in Ukraine with drones. Ukrainian officials indicated that critical infrastructure was struck in the attack, stating, “Russia is not backing down from leaving us without electricity and heat.” Ukrainian leader Zelensky called for a ceasefire in the air and sea. Ukrainian Energy Minister German Galushchenko shared on Facebook, “Russia is trying to cause the most harm to ordinary Ukrainians by bombing energy and gas production facilities without abandoning its goal of leaving us without electricity and heat.” Kharkiv Mayor Igor Terekhov mentioned on Telegram that a total of eight people, including a woman rescued from the wreckage, were injured in the attack. Terekhov stated, “A fire broke out where the clash occurred. A nearby apartment building also suffered damage.” He added that the building residents were evacuated.
Terekhov later noted that a critical infrastructure building was also damaged. Kharkiv Governor Oleg Synegubov reported on Telegram that the Russian attack targeted a private company, resulting in burnt vehicles. Synegubov added, “A 65-year-old woman and a 61-year-old man were taken to the hospital.” Last night, the Ukrainian emergency service reported an attack on the southern Odessa region, with damage to critical infrastructure but no injuries.
Odessa Governor Vyacheslav Negoda mentioned that missiles from Russia targeted an important industrial facility in the Ternopil region all night. Negoda stated, “The air defense forces shot down an enemy missile,” adding that there were no reported casualties and there may be restrictions in gas supply. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky called for a ceasefire in the air and sea following Russia’s attack last night.
Zelensky urged Russia’s allies to pressure the country to end the war.
