Redmi introduces its first smartwatch designed for children
Xiaomi’s technology sub-brand Redmi has unveiled its first smartwatch tailored for children.
TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS AND DESIGN Redmi Kids Smartwatch features a 1.68-inch (4.2 cm) display with a resolution of 360 x 390 pixels. This screen is optimized for easy visibility and usability, specifically designed for children. Moreover, it has a 5 MP front camera enabling video calls and photo capturing. The watch provides high-speed communication with 4G connectivity support. For tracking children’s location, a nine-layer system is offered, combining technologies such as GPS, Beidou, Wi-Fi, A-GPS, and AI-powered algorithms. Furthermore, the watch stores the last 90 days of location history, allowing parents to monitor their children’s movements more clearly.
BATTERY LIFE AND WATER RESISTANCE With a 950 mAh capacity battery, the watch offers up to three days of usage, reducing battery concerns for parents even during intense use. Additionally, being water-resistant up to 20 meters, this device can be safely used by children during play and activities.
ENHANCED FEATURES FOR EDUCATION AND ENTERTAINMENT Redmi Kids Smartwatch is equipped with special applications for both fun and learning for children. In addition to education-focused content, the watch provides a “K12 exercise system” to encourage children’s physical activities. With the classroom mode, distracting elements can be disabled, allowing the device to be effectively used for education. The customizable interfaces of the watch enable children to reflect their own style. Also, a limited directory can be created with safe numbers determined by parents for communication, allowing children to establish only secure connections.
HOW MUCH IS REDMI KIDS SMARTWATCH? WILL IT BE SOLD IN TURKEY? Redmi’s smartwatch designed for children is priced at $69 in China. There has been no official announcement regarding its global market availability.
