Minister of Trade Ömer Bolat announced that the temporary restriction on lemon exports has been lifted. He stated that inspections will continue. Minister of Trade Ömer Bolat shared on his social media account that, upon returning from the United Arab Emirates’ (UAE) capital Abu Dhabi for various commercial contacts, he met with lemon producers from different regions of Turkey at the Ministry. Bolat mentioned that the meeting included Deputy Ministers of Trade and Agriculture, AK Party MPs, and provincial chairmen. Participants from Mersin, Adana, and Antalya, as well as farmers, exporters, and heads of trade and agriculture chambers from Erdemli, Silifke, Tarsus, Finike, and Kozan, attended the meeting. “COMBATING SPECULATIVE ACTIVITIES” Bolat reported that during the meeting, sector representatives discussed the demands and expectations, steps to ensure supply security, maintaining price balance between supply and demand, and the roadmap for the future. He stated, “During the meeting, we agreed with valuable participants that speculative activities will not be tolerated until the new harvest to ensure the public’s access to the product at reasonable prices and to maintain price stability. In this regard, the temporary restriction on lemon exports has been lifted, and price developments in the domestic market will be closely monitored with determination, while inspections will continue. As a government, we will continue to protect and support our farmers, producers, exporters, tradesmen, and consumers.”
