Russia Appoints Ambassador to the US! First Step from Moscow after the Meeting in Istanbul

The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has received approval from the US for the appointment of Alexander Darchiyev as the Ambassador to the US.
According to a statement released by the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Russia has obtained approval from the US for Alexander Darchiyev to serve as the Ambassador to the US. The Ministry mentioned that Darchiyev will soon travel to Washington. Darchiyev led the Russian delegation in a meeting in Istanbul.
In 2017, Russia closed its consulate in San Francisco and two diplomatic annexes in New York and Washington DC following allegations by American intelligence officials of Russian interference in the 2016 US presidential elections.
WHO IS DARCHIYEV?
Having served as Russia’s Ambassador to Ottawa from 2014 to 2021, Darchiev studied history at Moscow State University and speaks fluent English and French. He has dedicated his career entirely to focusing on the United States and North America.
