An enraged Russian soldier, who was threatened to be transferred to an assault unit by his commander, got angry and drank alcohol. The suspect, drinking with friends, later attacked the command center with a machine gun, firing at patrol officers and killing a senior petty officer. Angered that the commander was not among the dead, the soldier also shot a lieutenant colonel, a captain, and a private who were asleep before being arrested.

Independent media outlet Mediazona reported that Corporal Nikita Posmetukhov was sentenced on Monday to life in prison for the incident. Mediazona stated that the trial took place behind closed doors at the Russian Southern Military District Court.

Posmetukhov was found guilty of killing his comrades and sentenced to life in prison for using violence against military command.
