Russia’s stance on nuclear power plant: Control of Zaporizhia cannot be given to another country

Moscow stated that it is not possible to transfer control of the Zaporizhia Nuclear Power Plant from Russia to another country.
The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that the Zaporizhia Nuclear Power Plant belongs to Russia and that it is not possible for control of the plant to be given to another country. According to the statement from the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, joint operation of the plant with any foreign state is unacceptable.
Citing security concerns, the ministry indicated that there is no precedent worldwide for such an example. The ministry also rejected the possibility of the plant being operated by international organizations lacking the necessary documentation and qualifications. The statement emphasized that the plant cannot be operated jointly with another country, stating, “NATO countries’ intelligence services have sabotage potential, making it impossible for representatives of these states to temporarily visit the plant.”
