In order to maintain pressure on Russia, the Canadian government has imposed sanctions on 76 individuals and entities.

Canada has expanded sanctions against Russia. A statement from the Canadian Prime Minister’s Office highlighted that those supporting the Russian defense industry, involved in the forced transfer of Ukrainian children to Russia, and including high-ranking Russian government officials and oligarchs, were included in the sanction list to continue pressure on the Moscow government.

It was reported that Canada took action against Russia’s shadow fleet by imposing sanctions on 109 vessels, including their roles in the transfer of sanctioned goods, including hydrocarbons.

Of the ships, 92 were oil tankers, 9 were LNG (liquefied natural gas) carriers, and 8 were vessels carrying weapons and other materials from Iran and North Korea to Russia.

Canada’s commitment to Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity was emphasized by applying sanctions on over 3,000 individuals and entities involved in severe and systematic human rights abuses.
