Security Concern in Europe: Dutch Minister says “Turkey should be at the table”

During his working visit to Ankara, Dutch Foreign Minister Caspar Veldkamp discussed the relations between Turkey and the Netherlands, European security architecture, as well as regional and global developments.

Veldkamp highlighted that a new European security architecture is in the process of being built and emphasized the importance of Turkey having a seat at the table. He mentioned that Turkey possesses a capable and experienced military force that can contribute in this regard.

Expressing satisfaction with Turkey being a crucial partner for the Netherlands and Europe, Veldkamp noted that half a million Turkish origin people reside in his country. He described them as almost “half a million bridges” between the two nations, highlighting the successful integration and economic prosperity of the Turkish community in the Netherlands. Emphasizing the importance of Turkey and the Netherlands as significant partners in NATO and politically, Veldkamp stressed the importance of the two countries coming together to discuss current global events and the future of Europe and the Middle East.
