A partnership agreement in unmanned technologies was signed between Baykar and the Italian defense company Leonardo. Baykar’s Chairman of the Board Bayraktar stated, “Through the synergy of Baykar and Leonardo, there is now a complete capability to develop the future of aviation combat in a sense. Simultaneously, a shared defense ecosystem has emerged.”

Selçuk Bayraktar, Chairman of the Board of Baykar, evaluated the agreement signed with the European defense industry giants Leonardo in Rome. When asked about the expectations regarding the agreement, Bayraktar stated, “Baykar is the world’s largest unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) developer and manufacturer, generating over ninety percent of its income from exports, exporting drones to 36 countries as a global leader. Leonardo, on the other hand, has a significant infrastructure to develop future technologies related to artificial intelligence in addition to being a force multiplier in other areas of defense industry and unmanned systems that encompasses radars to payload sensors. Now, with the synergy created by Baykar and Leonardo, there is a complete ability to develop the future of aviation combat in a sense. Moreover, a shared defense ecosystem has emerged.”

Bayraktar mentioned that they had already integrated Leonardo’s radars into their systems but had been exploring intensively how they could collaborate over the past four to five months. He also stated that a letter of intent had been signed today. Talking about the goals of the collaboration, Bayraktar said, “From developing a common platform to consolidating complementary capabilities, especially focusing on unmanned aerial vehicles and related systems in Europe and, in addition to that, the development of light platforms, which we call light smart platforms, as well as work related to KIZILELMA, an unmanned combat aerial vehicle representing the future of warfare.”
