It has been revealed that a 73-year-old tourist from the United States who traveled to Japan forgot a gun in his suitcase. The individual arrived in Japan smoothly passing security checks in both countries and notified officials when he realized he had mistakenly carried a firearm with him. It emerged that Rand Alan Peterson, a 73-year-old tourist flying from the United States to Japan, entered the country with a handgun forgotten in his suitcase.

According to information obtained from the police in Hyogo Prefecture, the individual boarded a plane from Daniel K. Inouye International Airport in Hawaii, United States, and entered Japan from Kansai Airport on March 22.

On March 23, the individual boarded a ship from Kobe Port in Hyogo Prefecture and notified the ship crew that he mistakenly brought a gun in his suitcase.

Upon receiving the report, the police confiscated the gun and arrested the suspected tourist for violating the Firearms Control Law.

POLICE STATED THAT 3 BULLETS WERE FOUND Police stated that the suspect tourist confessed to accidentally putting the gun in his suitcase and noticing it while staying at a hotel in Osaka. He admitted to also having bullets with him and explained that he disposed of the bullets in a trash can at Kobe Port terminal, fearing they would cause a bigger problem.

While searching the terminal at Kobe Port, the police announced finding 3 bullets in a trash can in the restroom, launching a detailed investigation into the incident. The fact that the individual managed to pass security checks at two different airports smoothly raised concerns about security vulnerabilities.
