Japanese technology and telecommunications company SoftBank has initiated a $16 billion borrowing plan for artificial intelligence. According to Information, SoftBank CEO Masayoshi Son’s plan was submitted to banks last week. The company is also considering an additional $8 billion borrowing by 2026. aiming to expand its artificial intelligence investments, the company plans to invest up to $25 billion in OpenAI, the owner of ChatGPT. Previously, the company had committed to a $15 billion investment in Stargate, established in partnership with Oracle and OpenAI under SoftBank’s leadership, aiming to invest up to $500 billion for the United States’ leadership in artificial intelligence. This initiative was announced by former U.S. President Donald Trump in January.
