Spider rain in the sky: Scientists explain the reason

In the state of Minas Gerais in Brazil, a species of spider called “Parawixia Bistria” created a phenomenon by spinning massive webs during their breeding and hunting season, forming a kind of “spider rain.” Hundreds of spiders floating down from the sky amazed and concerned the people in the Sao Thome das Letras region.
In Minas Gerais, Brazil, the sight of hundreds of spiders descending from the sky was both mesmerizing and terrifying. The spiders created what can only be described as a “spider rain.”
Images rapidly spreading on social media may have instilled fear in viewers, but experts emphasized that this natural event is entirely harmless.
Biologists and arachnologists came together to explain the scientific facts behind the spiders’ behavior.
Biologist Kayron Passos described this event as a “spider orgy” in an interview with a local media outlet. Passos explained that female spiders store sperm from multiple males in a region called the spermatheca, increasing genetic diversity. He noted that this behavior helps offspring be more resistant to diseases.
