St. Patrick’s Day Celebrations in the USA: Chicago River Turned Green

In the United States, St. Patrick’s Day celebrations have begun. In the city of Chicago, the river in the downtown area was dyed green as it is done every year. Known as the “Windy City,” Chicago is home to a large number of Irish immigrants. The river in the downtown area was colored green with a special dye this year as well. The dye used was reported to be a natural substance that did not harm the river ecosystem. The tradition of dyeing the river green has been repeated for 70 years. Irish people from all over the world celebrate every year on March 17 to honor St. Patrick, the clergyman who brought Christianity to their country. The traditional slogan of the celebrations is known as “Today Everyone is Irish.”
