Statement Regarding Two Suspended Insurance Companies’ Activities

The Insurance and Private Pension Regulatory and Supervisory Authority (SEDDK) disclosed that the suspended activities of two insurance companies, AcnTurk Sigorta AŞ and Arex Sigorta AŞ, had a small market share and necessary measures were taken for their existing claims. In the statement issued by SEDDK, it was emphasized that the insurance industry has integrity and strong capital structure, operating in compliance with international standards in terms of financial resilience indicators such as equity profitability, capital adequacy, and asset sufficiency, providing reliable, stable, and effective operations. The statement also noted that misleading and speculative news or posts in some media outlets had cast a shadow over the sector’s financial resilience and reputation, with an evaluation that the total market share of these companies, which is as low as 0.8%, and their individual situations were being disregarded. According to the statement, necessary financial and organizational measures have been taken to promptly pay compensation for ‘existing claims’ of policyholders in the suspended companies to prevent any inconvenience. Furthermore, it was mentioned that the actions and transactions identified within the scope of our supervisory activities at these companies are being reported to judicial authorities and other institutions responsible for oversight and regulation in the financial sector. The institution also announced that developments related to the matter will continue to be shared with the public consciousness and responsibility.
