Roketsan released new images of the domestically developed Laser Air Defense System ALKA. The images capture the moments when ALKA eliminates targets. In the footage shared by ROKETSAN, the ALKA Directed Energy Weapon System first detects targets with its radar. ALKA then uses its laser weapon with a range of 750 meters to destroy rotating and fixed-wing unmanned aerial vehicles. ALKA, which is still undergoing testing, can also be used against booby traps in urban areas and handmade explosive devices planted on roadsides. REACHING THE FINAL STAGE ROKETSAN General Manager Murat İkinci shared his insights at the Global Strategy Conference in Defense and Aviation Industry held in Antalya. İkinci emphasized the significant strategic importance of Turkey’s domestically developed air defense system, describing the Steel Dome as a complex air defense system. “This system will not only defend our homeland but also protect our Blue Homeland, safeguarding our rights and interests at sea,” stated İkinci. He also mentioned that the integration of national missiles through MİDLAS (National Vertical Launch System) along with the air defense systems on our ships will further enhance the capabilities of the Steel Dome. İkinci noted the collaboration among institutions such as ASELSAN, ROKETSAN, TÜBİTAK SAGE, and Mechanical and Chemical Industry, stating that “Steel Dome will be completed soon to enhance its capabilities over time against evolving threats.”
