Stock Exchange Surges Past 10,000 Points

Following lower-than-expected inflation in the market, the rise accelerated on the stock exchange. The BIST 100 index surpassed the 10,000 points mark again with a 3.81% increase.
On Borsa Istanbul, the BIST 100 index rose by 3.81% in the first half of the day, reaching 10,026.80 points.
Moving in an upward trend in the first half of the day, the BIST 100 index rose to 10,026.80 points as of 13:00, with an increase of 368.09 points and 3.81% compared to the previous closing. The total trading volume was 75.6 billion Turkish liras. The banking index gained 8.3%, while the holding index gained 2.86%. Among the sector indices, banking was the biggest gainer, while financial leasing factoring was the biggest loser with a 2.57% decrease.
In global markets, despite concerns about the US’s protectionist trade stance, a mixed trend was observed after signals from the announced data indicated that inflationary pressures may have eased, with domestic markets showing positive differentiation. According to data released today, the Consumer Price Index (CPI) increased by 2.27% on a monthly basis in February, lower than forecasts, and fell to 39.05% on an annual basis. Analysts noted that technically, the resistance levels for the BIST 100 index were at 10,100 and 10,180 points, while the support levels were at 9,900 and 9,800.
