Stock market begins the week with a decline

The BIST 100 index in Borsa Istanbul started the week with a 0.24% decline, opening at 10,481.45 points. The BIST 100 index fell by 25.65 points and 0.24% to 10,481.45 points compared to the previous closing at the opening. The banking index gained 0.06%, while the holding index increased by 0.45%. Among the sector indices, financial leasing factoring gained the most with 0.89%, while trade was the biggest loser with a 3.16% decline. In the domestic market, the BIST 100 index closed Friday with a 0.46% increase at 10,507.11 points. Global markets are experiencing mixed trends due to concerns about President Donald Trump’s protectionist trade policies potentially deepening trade wars and the possibilities of slowing growth in the world’s largest economy, the US, increasing risk perception. Additionally, Borsa Istanbul decided to implement the upside tick rule in short selling transactions for stocks listed in the BIST 50 Index for one day in today’s session. Analysts noted that technically, the support levels for the BIST 100 index are at 10,350 and 10,300 points, while 10,550 and 10,650 levels act as resistance.
