The BIST 100 index in Borsa Istanbul started the day with a 0.88% increase at 9,984.67 points.

The stock market began the day at the 10,000 point mark. At the opening, the BIST 100 index rose by 86.66 points and 0.88% from the previous close to reach 9,984.67 points.

The banking index gained 1.37%, while the holding index increased by 0.91%. Among the sector indices, the bank was the biggest gainer, while the food and beverage sector lost the most by 0.53%. Borsa Istanbul, which followed a sales-oriented trend domestically yesterday, closed the day with a 0.13% loss at 9,898.01 points. While global markets are trying to find direction under the shadow of the tariff duel arising from retaliations coming from Mexico and Canada against the customs duties implemented by the US, the message of “protecting the trade system” from China’s government is easing concerns in the Asian markets. On the other hand, Borsa Istanbul announced that the uptick rule in short selling transactions for shares in the BIST 50 index will continue today. Analysts noted that from a technical perspective, the resistance levels for the BIST 100 index are at 10,000 and 10,100 points, with support levels at 9,900 and 9,800.
