Stock market opens the week with an increase

The BIST 100 index on the Borsa Istanbul started the week with a 0.92% increase, rising to 9,748.03 points.
At the opening, the BIST 100 index increased by 89.31 points and 0.92% from the previous close to reach 9,748.03 points. The banking index gained 1.42%, while the holding index rose by 0.78%. Among the sectoral indices, the highest gainer was the technology sector with 1.67%, while the textile leather sector was the only loser with a 0.14% drop. Following a sales-oriented trend in the domestic market last Friday, the BIST 100 index closed the day losing 0.85% at 9,658.72 points. Globally, despite concerns about the US’s protectionist trade stance, there was a positive trend after signals from the released data indicated a potential easing of inflationary pressures. Today, attention is focused on domestic inflation data.

Furthermore, the Borsa Istanbul announced that the uptick rule will continue for short selling transactions today in shares listed on the BIST 50 index. Analysts expressed that today domestic inflation and Manufacturing Purchasing Managers’ Index (PMI), as well as manufacturing PMI data worldwide and inflation data in the Eurozone, will be monitored. From a technical standpoint, they noted that the support levels for the BIST 100 index are at 9,700 and 9,600 points, while resistance levels are at 9,800 and 9,900.
