Positive momentum continues in Borsa Istanbul. At the opening, the BIST 100 index rose 45.12 points and 0.43% to reach 10,625.38 points compared to the previous close.

The banking index gained 0.27% and the holding index increased by 0.36%. Among the sector indices, communication had the most gains with 0.98%, while securities investment trust was the biggest loser with a 0.39% decrease. BIST 100 index, which followed a buying-weighted trend in the domestic market yesterday, closed the day at 10,580.26 points with a 1.36% increase. Global markets continue to search for direction due to concerns about U.S. President Donald Trump’s protectionist trade attitude. Domestically, the focus has turned to the summary of the Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) meeting of the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey (CBRT) to be announced today. Last week, the CBRT lowered the policy rate of one-week repo auction by 250 basis points to 42.50%. CBRT Governor Fatih Karahan stated that they will do whatever is necessary to reach our year-end inflation target of 24% without allowing demand conditions to disrupt the disinflation process. Karahan said they evaluated the recent decline in inflation as stemming not only from base effects but also from the downward trend due to tight monetary policy. Additionally, Borsa Istanbul decided to implement the uptick rule in short selling transactions for shares included in the BIST 50 Index during today’s session for one day. Analysts noted that technically, the resistance levels for the BIST 100 index are at 10,700 and 10,750 points, while the support levels are at 10,600 and 10,500 levels.
