Stock market rose in the first half of the day

The BIST 100 index in Borsa Istanbul gained 1.34 percent in the first half of the day, reaching 10,578.32 points. Moving in an upward trend in the first half of the day, the BIST 100 index rose to 10,578.32 points with an increase of 139.99 points and 1.34 percent compared to the previous close as of 13:00. The total trading volume was 72.1 billion Turkish lira. The banking index gained 3.27 percent, while the holding index rose by 1.26 percent. Among the sector indices, banking had the highest gain, while electricity had the most loss at 1.3 percent. In the global markets, signals that US President Donald Trump may abandon the decision to double steel and aluminum tariffs on Canada and his statements reducing recession concerns eased selling pressure, with investor focus shifting to inflation data to be announced in the US. According to the balance of payments data released today, the current account deficit in January came above expectations at 3.795 billion dollars. Analysts noted that the data agenda in the afternoon is calm domestically, while inflation data in the US will be followed internationally, adding that technically, the BIST 100 index has resistance at 10,600 and 10,700 points, and support at 10,500 and 10,400 levels.
