The BIST 100 index in Borsa Istanbul began the day with a 0.13% increase, starting at 9,496.81 points. At the opening, the BIST 100 index rose by 12.55 points and 0.13% to reach 9,496.81 points compared to the previous close. While the banking index lost 0.02% in value, the holding index gained 0.32% in value. Among the sector indices, textile leather was the biggest gainer with 0.76%, while mining was the biggest loser with 0.29%. In the domestic market, BIST 100 index, which followed a selling trend yesterday in Borsa Istanbul, ended the day at 9,523.31 points with a 1.41% loss. In the global markets, the selling pressure caused by the tariffs announced by US President Donald Trump continued, while focus shifted to the statements to be made by Federal Reserve (Fed) Chairman Jerome Powell and the non-farm payroll data to be released in the US today. Analysts pointed out that today, the real effective exchange rate domestically and Powell’s statements overseas, along with the non-farm payroll data in the employment report in the US, would be closely monitored. From a technical standpoint, they noted that the resistance levels for the BIST 100 index are at 9,600 and 9,700 points, with support levels at 9,400 and 9,300.
