Strong Foreign Buying in the Stock Market

Foreign investors conducted a stock purchase of $480 million last week. This surge in demand from foreigners resulted in the highest level of interest in stocks in a year and a half. The Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey (CBRT) published its weekly securities statistics. Foreign residents made a net purchase of $480.1 million in stocks during the week of March 14th. This figure marked the highest stock purchase since August 2023. During the same week, foreign investors also acquired $1.465.3 billion in Treasury Bills and $2.6 million in assets outside General Government (OST). Demand for Treasury Bills also reached its highest levels in four weeks. As of March 7th, foreign residents’ stock holdings of $34.547.6 billion increased to $35.800.6 billion in the week of March 14th. During the same period, foreign residents’ Treasury Bills holdings rose from $19.623.6 billion to $20.875.4 billion, while OST holdings decreased from $740.1 million to $739.3 million.
