Suicide Attacks on Military Facility in Pakistan: 12 Dead, 30 Injured

In the suicide attacks on a military facility in Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, 12 people, including 4 children, were killed and 30 others were wounded.

Yesterday in Bannu district, suicide attacks utilizing bomb-laden vehicles targeted a military area where security forces’ offices and homes are located during the iftar time. As a result of the attacks, 12 people, including 4 children, lost their lives, and 30 others were injured. The assailants attempting to enter the military area were also killed in the clashes. Due to the intensity of the explosions, it is reported that roofs and walls of some houses in the area collapsed, leading to people being trapped under the debris. According to Dawn newspaper, Pakistani Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif condemned the attack, stating “Cowardly terrorists targeting innocent civilians during the holy month of Ramadan deserve no mercy.” The Pakistan Taliban claimed responsibility for the attack.

TERRORISM ISSUE IN PAKISTAN
Armed attacks in Pakistan are particularly concentrated in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Baluchistan provinces that share a border with Afghanistan. Armed groups claiming to defend the rights of Pashtun and Baloch ethnic groups carry out attacks against Pakistani security forces and civilians in both provinces. Islamabad alleges that the Pakistani Taliban (TTP) is based in Afghanistan and organizes its attacks from there, while the Afghan government denies these claims.

In Baluchistan, BLA attacks are prominent. The BLA seeks the separation of Baluchistan province from Pakistan and demands that the Baloch people govern this region.
