Support from the European Union to Israel

The High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy of the European Union (EU), Kaja Kallas, reaffirmed Brussels’ support for Tel Aviv during her first visit to Israel after assuming office.
Kallas emphasized the importance of Israelis feeling safe in their own homes while also respecting the rights of Palestinians, stating that “the escalation of tension in Gaza leads to horror and death for the Palestinian people.” She expressed concern over the recent breakdown of the ceasefire resulting in tragic casualties early that morning.
Advocating for the reestablishment of the ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, the release of all prisoners, and the resumption of humanitarian aid flow, Kallas stressed that discussions regarding the future governance of Gaza are crucial. She assured that the EU is ready to take responsibility in these discussions to prevent future issues, supporting the fight against terrorism while emphasizing the significance of Israeli security and the importance of respecting Palestinian rights.
During her bilateral meeting with Saar, Kallas conveyed the EU’s concerns over the increasing attacks on Palestinians in the occupied West Bank.
