In Switzerland, a politician received a fine over a toy water gun he bought. It was noted that the politician violated the country’s gun law by purchasing pink water guns. According to the Aargauer Zeitung newspaper in the country, Marc Jaisli, a local council member in the town of Buchs in western Zurich, ordered the guns to gift to his godchildren in August 2024. Authorities decided that Jaisli violated the gun law in the country because, despite being pink, the water guns could be mistaken for real firearms due to their appearance, and fined him approximately $7,386. Jaisli stated that he was unaware of breaking the law and paid the fine.
