Syrian army repels YPG/PKK attack in Aleppo

The Syrian army successfully repelled an attack by the terrorist group PKK/YPG in the city center of Aleppo. The terrorist organization suffered “casualties” during the confrontation. Maintaining their presence in the Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafiyah neighborhoods in Aleppo province, the terrorist group PKK/YPG took advantage of the events in Tarsus and Latakia to target Syrian army soldiers in Aleppo. In response to the group’s attack, the Syrian army engaged and prevented the terrorist act in the city center of Aleppo. Colonel Hasan Abdulghani, the spokesperson for the Syrian Ministry of Defense, announced to the Syrian News Agency SANA that security forces had thwarted the PKK/YPG attack in the Ashrafiyah neighborhood of Aleppo. The report also stated that the terrorist organization suffered “casualties.” Additionally, according to security sources in Damascus, elements of the deposed regime entrenched in Mezze 86 and Mezze Mountain areas launched an attack with a hand grenade. Following the attack, a brief skirmish with light weapons occurred between the security forces in the area and the assailants.
