Syrian Observatory for Human Rights: 1383 civilians killed

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, based in London, has announced that at least 1383 civilians have lost their lives in the recent wave of violence in the past few days.

During four days of clashes between security forces and groups loyal to the deposed Assad in Latakia and Tartus, the Observatory reported that at least 1383 civilians have died.

The London-based observatory stated that the majority of those killed in the violent incidents were Alevi and that many lifeless bodies were found in agricultural fields or homes.

The latest casualties were reported in the coastal provinces of Latakia and Tartus, as well as neighboring Hama.

Official figures indicate that at least 231 security personnel lost their lives in the clashes, while according to the Observatory, 250 individuals from Assad’s forces were killed.

Syrian President Ahmed Shaar has blamed pro-Assad groups for the incidents in Syria, highlighting that revenge-motivated murders have also taken place. He stated, “We will not allow those who shed blood, even if they are our closest ones, to go unpunished.”
