Syrian President Sharah: Weapons Must Be Under State Control

Syrian President Ahmed Sharah, speaking at the National Dialogue Conference, emphasized the necessity of “the unity of weapons and their monopoly by the state is not a luxury, but a duty and a necessity.” Highlighting Syria’s unity, Sharah called for all Syrians to come together and work hand in hand to heal wounds and alleviate suffering after decades of dictatorship.

President Ahmed Sharah addressed the National Dialogue Conference held to determine the country’s new roadmap at the presidential palace in Damascus.

Sharah announced the establishment of a transitional justice commission, stating, “We will work to restore the rights of our people, ensure justice, and, with the permission of God, deliver criminals to justice through the establishment of a transitional justice body.”

“UNITY OF WEAPONS: A DUTY AND NECESSITY”

Sharah mentioned their efforts over the past two months to apprehend those who have committed crimes against Syrians, and regarding the surrender of weapons, he expressed, “The unity of weapons and their monopoly by the state is not a luxury, but a duty and a necessity.”

Asserting that Syria is indivisible and derives its strength from unity, Sharah called for all Syrians to unite and work together to heal wounds and alleviate suffering after decades of dictatorship.

“WE MUST STRUGGLE WITH DETERMINATION”

Sharah noted that Syrians carry a great responsibility in rebuilding the country, stating, “What we are experiencing today is extraordinary, a historic opportunity. We must seize every moment of it to serve the interests of our people and our country.”

Addressing those who seek to undermine Syria’s security and unity or exploit the negative situation for opportunism, Ahmed Sharah emphasized the need to combat them with determination.
