The Most Expensive F1 Car in the World Sold for 2 Billion Turkish Liras!

The 1954 model Mercedes W196 Streamliner, driven by Formula 1 legends Juan Manuel Fangio and Stirling Moss, was auctioned in Stuttgart, Germany. It was sold for 51 million 155 thousand euros (approximately 1.9 billion TL), earning the title of the most expensive Formula 1 car in history. The sale at the Mercedes-Benz Museum in Stuttgart doubled the previous highest price for a Formula 1 car. With only four of these models ever produced, the 1954 Mercedes W196 Streamliner holds a significant place in motorsport history. This car, crowned by Juan Manuel Fangio’s victory at the 1955 Argentine Grand Prix and Stirling Moss setting the fastest lap time at the 1955 Italian Grand Prix, solidified its unique position in motorsport history. The auction started with a minimum price of 20 million euros and aimed to reach 50 million euros. The record bid came from a bidder participating over the phone, whose identity has not been disclosed.
