The U.S. Proposal for a 30-Day Ceasefire | Zelensky: Putin is Getting Ready to Reject the Proposal

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that Russian President Vladimir Putin is preparing to reject the U.S.-proposed “30-day ceasefire.” Zelensky evaluated Putin’s statement regarding the U.S.’s offered ceasefire in a written statement from his official account. Indicating that Russian President Putin is gearing up to reject the aforementioned proposal, Zelensky used the words, “We have all heard Russia’s extremely predictable and manipulative words in response to the ceasefire idea on the front line from Putin. He is actually getting ready to reject it.”

“AFRAID TO TELL TRUMP” Zelensky alleged that Putin generally tries to render “reasonable solutions” impossible in similar situations, stating, “Of course, Putin is afraid to directly tell President Trump that he wants to continue this war and keep killing Ukrainians. Therefore, in Moscow, they surround the ceasefire idea with such preconditions that it either fails or is extended for as long as possible.” Zelensky revealed that if an urgent ceasefire is established, the U.S. has the means to control the situation, saying, “This is definitely achievable with the capabilities of America and Europe.” Denouncing Russia’s desire to continue the war, Zelensky noted, “Putin has been stealing peace for years.” He called for pressure on Russia through sanctions.

THANKS FROM PUTIN TO TRUMP Russian President Vladimir Putin expressed gratitude to U.S. President Donald Trump for his interest in the Russia-Ukraine war. Putin had stated that they were open to temporary ceasefires in Ukraine but insisted that it should lead to lasting peace by addressing the root problems. Putin mentioned that supporting the ceasefire was the right decision, but certain matters needed to be discussed. He expressed readiness to have a phone conversation with President Donald Trump.

TRUMP SEEKS CEASEFIRE Trump aims to see a swift peace in Ukraine. He criticizes the substantial costs to American taxpayers of supporting Ukraine’s defense, along with the significant destruction and loss of life. Following the ceasefire agreement reached with Ukraine, U.S. President Donald Trump expects Russia to do the same, stating, “Putin made a very promising statement, and I would like to meet and talk with him soon.”
