US PRESS: 600 OUT OF 2,000 SOLDIERS ARE BEING WITHDRAWN

The claim was first put forth by The New York Times, based on high-level American officials. According to the report, the United States has around 2,000 troops in Syria. The administration of President Donald Trump has decided to reduce this number to 1,400. Therefore, it is stated that approximately 600 American soldiers have started to withdraw from the region. It was also suggested that 3 out of the 8 US bases in northeastern Syria would be closed. US MILITARY PRESENCE IN SYRIA The US withdrew from many bases in the operation area and focused on oil and gas fields when the Peace Spring Operation began in October 2019. Currently, US forces are present in 21 bases and military points identified by AA in Haseke, Raqqa, and Deyrizor provinces in the east of the Euphrates and Ayn al-Arab (Kobani) district of Aleppo province. The areas where US forces are present in northeastern Syria are under the occupation of the terrorist organization PKK/YPG.
