Three more seriously injured from nightclub fire being brought to Istanbul

An airplane carrying three people seriously injured in the nightclub fire that claimed the lives of 59 people in North Macedonia has taken off for Istanbul. Departing from the city of Kocani in eastern North Macedonia where the nightclub fire occurred, an ambulance plane belonging to the Ministry of Health has set course for Istanbul. Turkey’s Ambassador to Skopje, Fatih Ulusoy, was present at Skopje International Airport during the transfer. Following the transfer of the injured individuals, the ambulance plane headed towards Istanbul. The patients will receive treatment at the Basaksehir Cam and Sakura City Hospital in Istanbul. Nine more injured individuals had been transported to Istanbul and Ankara for treatment by ambulance planes sent by Turkey. Investigations after the incident revealed that the nightclub was operating without a license, leading to the launch of an investigation against 26 individuals, including former Economy Minister Kreshnik Bekteshi. The government of North Macedonia declared a national mourning period of 7 days after the incident. Additionally, the Mayor of Kocani, Ljupco Papazov, had resigned following the tragic event.
