The Dollar/TL started the day trading at 36.1170 level after a flat opening. Moving with an upward trend yesterday, the dollar/TL ended the day at 36.1040, slightly above the previous closing, with a 0.2% increase. As of 09.30, the Dollar/TL is trading just above the previous closing at 36.1170 level. At the same minute, Euro/TL is sold at 37.6770 with a 0.3% increase, and British Pound/TL is at 45.1160 with a 0.3% rise. The Dollar index, on the other hand, is currently at 107.6 level with a 0.4% decrease.

The Central Bank announced the balance of payments data. Accordingly, the current account balance had a deficit higher than expectations at 9.97 billion dollars in 2024. In December, the current deficit was realized as 4.65 billion dollars.

GLOBAL MARKETS

The expectations of inflation exceeding in the US and Federal Reserve (Fed) Chairman Jerome Powell stating that they have not yet reached the inflation target, strengthened the predictions that the Bank may be more cautious in interest rate cuts. Powell, regarding President Donald Trump’s statement that interest rates should be lowered, commented, “I will never comment on what the President said, but they can be sure that we will keep our heads down, do our job, and make our decisions based on what is happening in the economy.”
