Tomato Export Reaches 161 Million Dollars

From January to March, Turkey conducted tomato exports totaling 161 million 642 thousand dollars. In 2024, Turkey exported tomatoes worth 426 million 760 thousand dollars to 52 countries. According to the data from the Southeastern Anatolia Exporters’ Associations (GAİB), the revenue generated from tomato exports to 42 countries in the first quarter of this year amounted to 161 million 642 thousand dollars. Romania was at the forefront of countries where Turkey sold the most tomatoes, with Turkey exporting tomatoes worth 34 million 350 thousand dollars to Romania in the first three months of the year. Russia followed Romania with 27 million 502 thousand dollars, and Ukraine with 22 million 317 thousand dollars.
Onur Girdap, the President of the Greenhouse Investors and Producers Association (SERA-BİR), emphasized the significant contribution of the first three months’ tomato export figures to the country’s economy. Girdap expressed expectations that export figures would continue to improve in the first half of the year, stating, “The first three months’ figures for tomato exports are crucial for our producers, exporters, and the national economy.
This year, climate conditions have been harsher compared to 2024, affecting our production. Although our export figures have slightly decreased compared to last year, I believe that we have a promising future ahead, and we will overcome this gap soon.
Data from the greenhouses indicate that our export figures will rise even further.”
