Tradesmen Seeking Legislation for Retail

President of TESK, Bendevi Palandöken, called for the enactment of a retail law to prevent unfair competition. Once again, Turkey Tradesmen and Artisans Confederation President Bendevi Palandöken made a plea for a retail law. Palandöken stated, “It is necessary to address the shortcomings in the retail law. Intervening with a rule against unfair competition is essential. Inflation can only decrease in this way.” The President of TESK stated that combating inflation would not be possible without preventing unfair competition in the market. Palandöken expressed, “Everyone has complaints. But the most crucial factor in resolving the problem is to establish regulations. Without addressing the existing deficiencies in the law, it is not possible to control prices through inspections of only 3-5 businesses at the site or by giving the impression that prices are being increased by them.” Despite all the calls, Palandöken also criticized the lack of attention to the law, saying, “While this retail law should be a crucial tool in combating inflation, it seems to be pushed to the back shelf. The problem for tradesmen is the lack of regulations. Otherwise, there would be no issues in competing and selling products manufactured with their own skills or handmade crafts.”
