Tropical bacteria claims the lives of 26 people! Infection warning from experts

A total of 26 people have lost their lives in the “melioidosis” outbreak that originated in Australia. Experts are issuing a warning against bacterial infections.

In the state of Queensland in northeastern Australia, the number of casualties in the tropical disease outbreak, “melioidosis,” has risen to 26 following heavy rainfall. According to the latest data shared by the Queensland State Health Department, 10 new cases, one of which resulted in death, were reported in the past week.

Experts emphasize that bacteria can spread through the air and be transmitted through respiratory means, particularly after heavy rainfalls. Authorities are urging the local community to pay close attention to hygiene practices, especially in the aftermath of floods.

The infection caused by the bacterium named “Burkholderia pseudomallei” is commonly seen in Southeast Asia and Northern Australia.
