Following the approval of US President Donald Trump, approximately one ton of MK-84 bombs has reached Israel. The shipment of these bombs was previously held back by the administration of former President Joe Biden. An American ship carrying numerous military munitions anchored at Ashdod Port last night. The Israeli Ministry of Defense announced the delivery with a statement saying, “The ammo shipment approved by the Trump administration and reaching Israel tonight holds great importance for our army.”

The Israeli Ministry of Defense declared that Israel received a shipment of heavy “MK-84” bombs from the US. An American ship loaded with a vast amount of military munitions arrived at Ashdod Port last night. President Donald Trump removed the embargo placed by his predecessor, the Biden administration, on the export of ammunition.

BIDEN ADMINISTRATION HAD HALTED THE SHIPMENT
The Biden administration had concerns about the impact on densely populated areas in the Gaza Strip, and therefore did not allow the export of these missiles to Israel. Since October 7, 2023, the Biden administration had sent thousands of bombs to Israel, but shipments were halted after reports of civilian casualties. This hold was lifted by Trump last month.

“CRUCIAL FOR OUR ARMY”
Defense Minister Israel Katz stated, “The ammo shipment released by the Trump administration and reaching Israel tonight holds great importance for our army, serving as proof of the strong alliance between Israel and the US.”

“WILL NOT SEND WEAPONS IF THEY ENTER RAFAH”
Former President Biden mentioned in an interview with CNN in May 2024 that sanctions would be applied in both the situation in Gaza and if Israel were to initiate a comprehensive ground attack on Rafah. Biden said, “If they enter Rafah, then I have clearly stated that I will not send weapons used in Gaza cities.”

The MK-84 bomb is known for its capability to destroy targets hundreds of meters away.
