U.S. President Donald Trump, ranking the 40th in global education achievement but the 1st in cost per student, stated, “I want the Education Department to be closed immediately.” Trump mentioned that institution employees were not showing up for work because they were all working from home, declaring, “These people will be dismissed. We need to shrink our government.”

Following the official assumption of his duties, President Donald Trump, who has taken various measures to reduce public spending by federal government agencies, targeted the Education Department this time. Addressing reporters in the Oval Office, Trump said that the Education Department should be closed.

Responding to the question “How soon do you want the Education Department to be closed?” with “I want it to be closed immediately,” Trump stated, “There are major irregularities in the Education Department.”

Questioning the efficiency of the institution, Trump used the phrases, “They ranked the top 40 countries in the world. We are in 40th place. But we are number one in cost per student.”

“Something’s Wrong,” comparing the United States in education with other countries, Trump expressed, “Norway, Denmark, Sweden. I hate to say this, but China, no matter how big, ranks in the top five, and they are our primary competitor.” However, emphasizing that the U.S. ranks 40th, Trump asked, “If we’re in 40th place, it really means something is seriously wrong, doesn’t it?”

“They Don’t Care About Farmers’ Kids,” Trump alleged that bureaucrats in the capital do not care about equal opportunities in education, stating, “Most of the people in Washington DC do not care about rural children. They do not care about farms, the daughters, and sons of farmers.”

Trump mentioned the huge bureaucracy in Washington DC and the Education Department buildings everywhere, noting, “Meanwhile, no one is coming to work. Because they all work from home, you know, ‘they work from home.’ And many of them have second jobs.”

Stating that another issue under the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) overseen by Elon Musk was this, Trump said, “How many of these people are paid for working from home but not actually working? Because they have second and even third jobs. You will see many of them, and these people will be fired. Because we need to shrink our government.”

Previously, Trump had stated that he would soon instruct Musk to investigate the Education Department. Pointing out possible irregularities, Trump said, “He will find the same thing. Then I will go to the military. Let’s control the military. We will find billions, hundreds of billions of dollars in fraud and abuse. But I built my campaign on this.”
