Trump Eliminating Programs Containing “Inappropriate Ideology”

President Trump announced that programs at the Smithsonian Institution containing “divisive rhetoric” and “inappropriate ideology” will be removed. According to a statement from the White House, President Donald Trump signed an executive order to remove programs at the Smithsonian Institution in several states across the country, which consist of various museums, national zoos, educational, and research centers. Trump claimed that in the past decade, there have been attempts to rewrite American history by distorting facts with narrative driven by ideologies. He stated that programs at the Smithsonian containing “divisive rhetoric” and “inappropriate ideology” will be eliminated. Trump criticized the activities of the National Museum of African American History and Culture, the Museum of Women’s History, and the American Art Museum, stating that museums in the nation’s capital should be places for people to learn, not places where our shared history is distorted by ideological agendas or divisive rhetoric. Trump mentioned that Vice President J.D. Vance will inspect the institution and oversee the removal of “inappropriate ideology.” He also stated that Vance will ensure that the budget allocated by the White House for the Smithsonian Institution is not spent on programs encouraging ideologies that undermine American values, racially divide Americans, or conflict with federal laws and policies.
