Trump Raises the Stakes! US Could Increase Tariffs on China to 245%

Following recent developments, the White House announced that the Trump administration could impose tariffs of up to 245% on imports from China.

More than 75 countries have expressed readiness to negotiate with the US regarding the customs duties it imposes.

According to a press release from the White House, in light of these developments, President Donald Trump’s administration could apply tariffs of up to 245% on imports from China.

It is stated that Trump has imposed customs duties on countries with whom the US has the largest trade deficits in order to “create equal conditions and protect America’s national security.”

High individual tariffs for countries willing to negotiate trade agreements have been suspended, with the only exception being China that retaliated against US tariffs. The White House emphasized that as a result of retaliatory actions, China currently faces customs duties of up to 245% on US imports. In April, Trump raised the tariffs on Chinese goods from 84% to 125%, combining them with the existing 20% tariffs, resulting in a total tariff burden of 145%.

In response, China increased its customs duties on American goods from 84% to 125%. According to Reuters, Chinese officials have instructed a diplomatic campaign to encourage other countries to oppose the customs duties imposed by the US.
