Trump Specifies Date for Tariffs

President of the United States, Donald Trump, announced that tariffs on Mexico and Canada will come into effect on March 4th. President Donald Trump stated that the flow of drugs from Mexico and Canada into the United States continues, and therefore, tariffs planned for these countries will be implemented as scheduled on March 4th. Trump expressed on his Truth Social account that there are still dangerously high levels of drug flow from Mexico and Canada to the U.S., with most of these drugs, mainly fentanyl, being produced in China and supplied from there. He emphasized that over 100,000 people lost their lives last year due to these dangerous and highly addictive drugs, with millions dying in the past 20 years. Trump noted the devastation caused to the families of the victims, many of whom are left nearly destitute. He stated, “We cannot allow this scourge to continue to harm the U.S., therefore, the tariffs scheduled to go into effect on March 4th as planned will be enforced until this situation is resolved or significantly limited. Similarly, an additional 10% tariff will be imposed on China on this date. The reciprocal tariff will continue through April 2nd.”
