As reported by the unnamed sources to the US news channel NBC News, close associates of President Donald Trump advised him not to have a phone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin until a complete ceasefire is agreed upon in Ukraine.

It was claimed that Trump’s advisors were against the idea of meeting until Putin promised a ceasefire.

On Sunday, March 30, Trump told NBC News that he was “very angry” with Putin due to the lack of progress in ceasefire negotiations, but mentioned he still planned to meet with Putin this week.

The last phone call between Trump and Putin took place on March 18 and lasted for 2.5 hours.
