According to Bloomberg’s report, the Trump administration plans to strengthen semiconductor restrictions towards China by continuing and expanding Beijing’s efforts to limit technological power and semiconductor limitations. In this context, US officials recently met with their Japanese and Dutch counterparts to restrict Tokyo Electron and ASML engineers from having semiconductor hardware in China. It was mentioned that the US administration wants to see key allies complying with China restrictions. It was stated that Trump demanded that practices towards American companies such as Lam Research, KLA, and Applied Materials should also be embraced by allies. Additionally, it was reported that there is a goal to restrict the quantity and type of Nvidia chips exported to China. Following the news, shares of Japanese chip companies dropped. Tokyo Electron led the decline with a 4.4% decrease.
