This decision could potentially lead to the deportation of around 240 thousand Ukrainian refugees. This move signifies a striking reversal of the “warm welcome” Ukrainians received under the Joe Biden administration.

According to Reuters news agency, a senior official from the Trump administration and three sources familiar with the matter stated that the Trump administration is planning to revoke the legal status of approximately 240 thousand Ukrainians fleeing from war with Russia and could deport these individuals. This expected move, anticipated around April, signifies a dramatic reversal of the “warm welcome” Ukrainians experienced under President Joe Biden’s administration.

HAD BEEN ON THE AGENDA BEFORE THE TRUMP-ZELENSKY DISPUTE Before the public dispute last week between Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, the plan to revoke protections for Ukrainians had already begun. Sources mentioned that this was part of a broader effort by the Trump administration to eliminate the legal status granted to over 1.8 million immigrants under the Biden administration.
