Trump’s Economy Messages: “Tariffs Can Cause Discomfort”

President Donald Trump of the United States pointed out that customs tariffs could cause discomfort. Emphasizing that they inherited an inflation nightmare, Trump called for tax cuts. President Donald Trump delivered important messages on the economy in his first Congress speech of the second presidential term. Stressing that they are determined to revive the American dream, Trump delivered the longest presidential speech in Congress history. Trump stated that rescuing the economy is one of their top priorities and mentioned that they inherited an economic disaster and an inflation nightmare from the previous administration. Trump said, “As President, I fight every day to reverse this damage and make America affordable again.” AIMS TO REDUCE ENERGY COSTS Trump highlighted that reducing energy costs is one of the main focuses of their battle against inflation. US CITIZENSHIP FOR $5 MILLION Mentioning the Golden Card program, Trump said, “With this card, which will be offered for sale for $5 million, we will allow the path to US citizenship for the most successful job creators from all around the world.” HISTORIC STEP FOR CRITICAL MINERALS Trump stated, “This week, I will take a historic step to significantly increase the production of critical minerals and rare earth elements in the United States.” FIGHTING CORRUPTION Trump emphasized that they will also put an end to taxpayers’ money being wasted. Trump mentioned establishing the Government Efficiency Department, revealing finding billions of dollars in corruption, and reclaiming most of that money. CALL FOR TAX CUTS Trump stated that they want permanent cuts in all income taxes and that no taxes should be collected from tips, overtime pay, and social security payments. As part of tax cuts, Trump expressed their desire to reduce taxes on domestic production and all manufacturing. TARIFFS CAN CAUSE DISCOMFORT Trump also addressed customs tariffs in his speech, reiterating that reciprocal tariffs will come into effect on April 2nd. Trump emphasized that tariffs are related to making America rich and big again, saying, “There will be some discomfort, but we have no problem with that. It won’t be excessive.” Trump also mentioned that tariffs will be applied to agricultural products coming to the US starting from April 2nd, adding, “There may be a period of adjustment.” “REPEAL THE CHIPS ACT” Referring to the CHIPs Act, which aimed to increase domestic semiconductor production during former President Biden’s term, as a “horrible thing,” Trump stated, “We are spending billions of dollars, and it makes no sense. They are taking our money and not spending it.” Trump argued that the US needs to get rid of this law. WE WILL TAKE BACK THE PANAMA CANAL Trump announced that a major American company will buy two ports around the Panama Canal. Trump emphasized that they will take back the Panama Canal, saying, “My administration will take back the Panama Canal, and we have already started.” CALL TO GREENLAND Making a call to the people of Greenland, Trump said, “We strongly support your right to determine your own future. If you choose, we welcome you to the United States.”
