Trump’s Step to Save Apple

The Trump administration has exempted products such as smartphones, computers, and chips from reciprocal tariffs. It is expected that this decision will have a positive impact on companies like Apple and Samsung. President Donald Trump of the United States has exempted smartphones, computers, and certain electronic products from reciprocal tariffs. It is noted that this step could benefit electronic giants like Apple and Samsung. According to a report in Bloomberg, the exemption decision will be valid for smartphones, laptops, hard drives, computer processors, and chips. A significant portion of consumer electronics products were not manufactured in the U.S. It was suggested that along with customs duties, these products could experience significant price increases. It was also noted that returning production to the U.S. could take years. Apple, which manufactures in China, was expected to face up to a 45% increase in phone prices. Samsung, which uses Vietnam as a production center, was also predicted to be negatively affected by the tariffs. While the suspension of tariffs on these products may be temporary, it was suggested that a different tariff could be applied to these products. It was reported that Apple brought around 1.5 million iPhones from India to the U.S. in order to avoid being affected by the new tariffs announced by Trump.
