In the first quarter of the year, Turkish Lira-based foreign trade increased by 30.1% compared to the same period last year, reaching 334 billion 820 million liras. According to the Ministry of Trade data, last month saw the second-highest export value of March with 23.4 billion dollars. During this period, there was also an increase in exports with the Turkish Lira. Monthly data showed a rise in this category for three consecutive months. Turkish Lira-based exports in January reached 26 billion 324 million liras, a 20.5% increase from the same month last year. Imports also rose by 47.2% in the first month to reach 70 billion 319 million liras. Thus, the foreign trade volume in the first month of the year was 96 billion 643 million liras. The increase in Turkish Lira-based foreign trade continued in the second month of the year. In that month, exports rose by 12.3% compared to February last year, reaching 28 billion 276 million liras, while imports increased by 19.2% to reach 84 billion 19 million liras. The foreign trade volume exceeded 112 billion 294 million liras. In March, Turkish Lira-based exports increased by 15.9% compared to the same month in 2024, reaching 30 billion 538 million liras, while imports rose by 45.1% to reach 95 billion 346 million liras. Thus, in March, Turkish Lira-based foreign trade exceeded 125 billion 883 million liras. Exporting with the Turkish Lira to 164 countries In the first quarter of this year, Turkish Lira-based exports increased by 16.1% from 73 billion 354 million liras to 85 billion 137 million liras compared to the same period last year. During this period, imports also increased by 35.7% from 183 billion 991 million liras to 249 billion 683 million liras. Consequently, foreign trade in this category increased by 30.1% from 257 billion 345 million liras to 334 billion 820 million liras in the first quarter of 2025. Furthermore, in March, Turkish Lira-based exports were made to 164 countries, with 37,662 companies using Turkish Lira for foreign sales.
