Turkish Minister Fidan’s Message on Palestine: Two-State Solution the Only Path to Peace

Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan delivered a message on the two-state solution in Palestine at the G20 Foreign Ministers Meeting. Minister Fidan stated, “The way to achieve a just and lasting peace is not by displacing millions of Palestinians from their lands.” According to sources from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Minister Fidan addressed the session on “Global Geopolitical Situation” at the G20 Foreign Ministers Meeting held in Johannesburg, South Africa. Fidan pointed out that conflicts have become more prolonged, destructive, and widespread than at any point in recent history, emphasizing the continued displacement of millions of people, overstressing humanitarian aid systems, and economic instabilities creating global vulnerabilities. Fidan also noted that rapid advancements in artificial intelligence and robotics are redefining the world and emphasized the struggle of multilateral institutions to remain effective in the face of changing power dynamics. He said, “The United Nations Security Council cannot fulfill its responsibility to maintain peace and security in an extremely polarized global environment.” Minister Fidan stated, “The way to achieve a just and lasting peace is not by displacing millions of Palestinians from their lands. The lands for which Palestinians have made great sacrifices are not up for negotiation. The two-state solution remains the delayed and only path to a lasting peace. Failure to implement this solution will only prolong the cycle of conflict.” He added, “THE UNCONDITIONAL LIFTING OF SANCTIONS IS REQUIRED FOR SYRIA” Highlighting that recent developments in Syria are “promising,” Fidan mentioned meaningful steps toward an inclusive and representative transition process in Syria. Fidan said, “There is a decisive commitment to treat all ethnic and religious groups equally. The determination to combat terrorism remains unwavering. The concerns of regional countries are being addressed. The control of chemical weapons continues to be a priority. The unconditional lifting of sanctions is necessary for Syria to recover meaningfully.” Stating that diplomacy remains the “only path” in Ukraine, Fidan emphasized Turkey’s support for diplomatic solutions while continuing support for Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. Fidan also highlighted that Africa has become one of the cornerstones of Turkey’s foreign policy through significant investments in political, economic, social, security, and humanitarian areas. He expressed satisfaction with Africa’s increasing global influence and reiterated Turkey’s commitment to its strategic partnership with the African Union. Minister Fidan stated, “Turkey will continue to advocate for Africa’s deserved place in the global order and ensure that its voice is heard more in the multilateral system.”
