Two Cement Companies Fined 619 Thousand Lira

Two cement companies operating in Hatay were fined 618,937 lira for competition violations. The Competition Board has decided to impose an administrative fine of 618,937 lira on two companies operating in the cement and ready-mix concrete sector in Hatay. In a statement published on the Competition Board’s website, it was announced that the investigation into some enterprises engaged in cement and ready-mix concrete production and sales in Hatay has been concluded. While the investigation was ongoing, it was mentioned in the statement that OYAK Cement Factories Inc., Kadir Soylu Concrete Iron Construction Petroleum Products Industry and Trade Ltd., MM Tiftik Brothers Transport Construction Real Estate Petroleum and Agricultural Products Marketing Industry and Trade Ltd., and Ekintaş Construction Industry and Trade Inc. had applied for reconciliation. The statement also reminded that the Board had imposed an administrative fine of 110,564,108 lira on these enterprises. It was stated in the announcement that during the investigation, oral defenses of Ceyhan Ready-Mix Concrete Construction Transportation Energy Petroleum Products Market Industry and Trade Ltd., Çimko Cement and Concrete Industry Trade Co., Filitoğlu Construction Petroleum Food Tourism Transportation Industry and Trade Inc., and KÇS Kahramanmaraş Cement Concrete Mining Enterprises Inc. were taken in March. It was noted, “It was decided that Ceyhan Ready-Mix Concrete participated in customer sharing in the market, and Filitoğlu company violated the relevant law by engaging in price fixing and customer sharing agreements in the ready-mix concrete production and sales market. In this context, an administrative fine of 515,861 lira was imposed on Ceyhan Ready-Mix Concrete and 103,076 lira on Filitoğlu. However, since no evidence of law violation was found for Çimko Cement and KÇS, it was decided that there was no basis for imposing an administrative fine on these enterprises.” Consequently, a total of 618,937 lira in fines were imposed on the two mentioned companies.
